CPU is a central processing unit which performs the basic functions: 1. Fetch the data 2. Decode the data 3. Execute the data or it carries out the basic instruction's that opreate the computer.
The speed of the processor is usually measured in the Mhz and Ghz.
There are four major cpu manufacturer are: 1. INTEL 2. INTEL Celeron 3. AMD 4. VIA cyrux
I haven't seen much differences in these cpu.

To identify the speed and the company of the CPU just look at the top of the cpu.
