Lesson 7: Managing the files and Data

This lesson is very important in my view. Because if you will not properly manage your files and data it will result in totally messed up files where you will forgot where you have your files.

I have faced this problem when I first used the computer. I Just installed the games and save the file every where and it resulted in mess for me. So you should follow these guide lines:

1. Make a proper folder to save your document
2. Install the programmes always in the programme file
3. Always save your movies, songs and data in another drive in which windows is not installed.
4. Always uninstall the programmes which is installed in window through add and remove from control panel. Do not delete its folder before uninstalling it. After uninstallation sometime you have to delete the folder mannually.
5. Just deleting the icon or shortcut files from the desktop or startmenu doesnt mean that you have totally removed it from your system. It is installed and using your space you have to uninstall it to remove it as mentioned in step 4.
6. You must install the Antivirus Software and regularly scan the system. If you have internet connection you should use windows firewall protection and also antispy ware programme.
7. Do not install to much programms which is not required by you because it will slow down your system.

Computer System Information:

1. To see the speed of CPU and Ram and OS version right click on the my computer icon on the desktop and click on properties. Note: Always your ram capacity is shown with some mb less.
2. You can scan you hard disk by right clicking on the drive than go to properties than tools than press scan now. This will scan your hard disks file system.or in the dos prompt you can type chkdsk space drive letter e.g. c:\chkdsk d: this will scan the drive and tell you the status of the drive whether it has bad sector or not.

Note:- Copying the Programme from cd or any other storage device is totally different than installing the prgramme. To install the programme you need to run setup.
