Lesson 8: Troubleshooting
1. Continous Beep and No Output on the Screen
It is sure that there is fault in your RAM. You should check whether your ram is connect properly in the RAM Slot. If there is dirt in the RAM you should clean the RAM and RAM slot using dry cloth and connect it to the motherboard and still your computer is not working than you should try other good RAM and after connecting that RAM u get the display than it is sure that your RAM needs to be replaced.
2. No Display and No Beep but the power is on
There can be multiple reasons for this. It can be your cpu or motherboard which is not working. To check that which one is faulty u need another pair of good CPU and Mother board. Now place good cpu in your mother board and turn the power on and still system is not giving any display than there problem with your motherboard now confirm it by using good mother board and your CPU. And when you use the good CPU and system starts than your CPU is faulty.
3. CPU overheating problem.
If your system works for sometime and than hangs up and again it works it could be due to CPU overheating. You should check whether CPU fan is running or fitted properly. You should change the fan if it is faulty otherwise this overheating can damage your CPU.
If your fan and everything is good than it can be that CPU is faulty.
4. Windows getting hang and slows down
There are many reasons for this most common are first 3:
- First reason can be windows software getting courpted. You can fix this by installing the new window
- Second reason can be due to virus. To detect and remove the virus you should install and run the antivirus software
- Third reason can be due to installation of too many programs which are running in background. For this remove some programmes from the system or disable some programmes from start menu
- In many cases system slows down due to low RAM capacity. For this increase your RAM capacity.
- It can be due to overheating of a computer system. For this check the cooling system of the cpu or there is loose connection check all the connection in the cabinate.
- Sometime mouse and keyboard connectors gets faulty and it also slows down the system. For this you can use USB mouse and keyboard or repair the mouse and keyboard connector by professional.
5. System shows Insert system disk
In most cases this problem is shown due to the loose IDE cable with HDD. Tight the IDE cable with HDD. If it is still not runnning than there is some problem in HDD.
